Communities and villages that have strong qualities, and resources, but the people encounter obstacles and especially the youngest are forced to leave?This situation is only getting more acute in a context of global crisis, where we have to be even more creative to create and sustain life.

Zarzalejo (Spain) is such a place. Zarzalejo does not want to let that happen.

Elos Nederland, Plattelandsjongeren, GSA Madrid and fundación Creasvi are embracing this community and inviting it to create an Oasis within the dessert, a space where people form Zarzalejo’s community can find within their own talents and resources, opportunities for sustainable living individually and collectively.

How?
By using the Oasis game, which is no ordinary game. Its mission is to mobilise people to transform a space in their area into an Oasis, a space that represent their vision and dreams of the best world, and in the process, create community from the bottom up. This translates into the transformation of a degraded area into a space for cultural expression, environmental care or community entrepreneurship of economic projects with a high social impact.
To restore sustainable living in equilibrium with nature, embracing diversity, and on the way contributing to generate positive global change.

The Oasis in Zarzalejo it’s a project that is connected to a bigger process towards creating change. We already started facilitating sustainable living in rural areas, we boost creative community solutions for a local challenges in a multi- crisis global context.
